'The oldest pottery excavated till date is 20,000 years old. This linkage to our ancient ancestors, likewise, connects the fate of our future generations to our current actions or inaction. Every single thing that we do today will eventually distill into our culture – the way we think, our work ethics, our expectations and interactions. We must be our very best.'

Location :
The Refinery Workspace (115 King George's Ave #03-02)

Description :

Slip-casting was invented by the Peruvians 2000 years ago to make panpipes. Due to its precision and consistency, it is the main method for producing fine porcelain today.

Try your hand at creating your very own sake cup (or teacup) set in a basic workshop of slip casting. In contrast to wheel-throwing, slip-casting uses moulds to produce pre-determined forms. Participants will be able to produce a set of sake cups and decorate them by painting, craving, piercing, or attaching embellishments.

This workshop is suitable for children ages 12 and up. Each children participant below 12 must be accompanied by 1 paying adult. Each kid will be given a pottery painting kit which includes a hexagonal plant pot (12 x 12cm) with saucer, 30ml of permanent non-toxic ceramic colour pigment.

Due to safe-distancing measures, only participants will be allowed into the studio during the specified session.

** Please note that all items will be fired off-site and ready for collection 2 weeks after the session via the following methods:

1. Self-collection: Items will be available for self-collection from The Refinery Workspace. Collection date to be notified and arranged once the pieces are ready.

2. Delivery: Delivery of items to a location of your choice can be arranged for an additional fee of $10. This can be arranged during the workshop and paid for via Cash or PayNow.

All materials will be provided and no experience is necessary.
