Meet Felix. Ex-aspiring fashion designer, ex-steward, ex-military officer and now, indigo dye practitioner extraordinaire. It's been two years of honing his skills with Watanabe’s, an indigo dye haven in Tokushima Prefecture (Japan), and he doesn't plan on stopping anytime soon. In fact, his next step is to spread the wonders of the dye, and to foster the importance of the environment and sustainability. Sequence of Events
- Introduction to Natural Japanese Indigo
- Sharing of different dyeing techniques
- Preparation work
- Dyeing of Furoshiki (Size: 680 x 680mm)
- Serving of tea and sweets
All tools, materials are provided and no prior knowledge is necessary.
SESSION FOR INDIVIDUALS
To ensure exclusivity of individual participants, workshop will be capped at 6 pax and a minimum of 2 pax to start. Glove-wearing will be compulsory for all participants in this session.
If you're open to having a private session during the day on weekdays, do drop us a message and we can discuss from there!
Aprons will be provided for the workshop. Participants are recommended to come in an attire which they do not mind having accidental stains.
Stained blue hands are proof that the vat is natural and safe to touch with our own bare hands. They wash off in a couple of days but nails may remain stained for a longer period of time. Participants may opt to dye with gloves (provided) on.
In order to ensure that our premises comply with the government's recommendations for safe reopening, we are keeping it at a maximum of 8 pax for each session and all studio users must comply with the following:
- Check in and out using the SafeEntry check-in system posted at the studio entrance.
- Compulsory temperature check upon entry.
- Wear masks at all times.
We ask that you refrain from attending this upcoming workshop session if;
You have received or is in close proximity with anyone with SHN in the last 14 days from workshop date.
- You are feeling unwell.
- You have had a fever of 37.5ºC or higher.
A refund of 50% of the workshop fee will be issued for all the cancellations made in writing and received less than 7 days prior to the workshop date.
Cancellation for your slot for this workshop due to any COVID-19 related reasons would only be allowed full refund at our own discretion on a case-by-case basis.
No refunds or credits will be issued for No Shows on the day of the workshop.
